After my trips to the Field Museum sparked my interest in drawing nature and wildlife I found a love for bird watching. Seeing different species of birds each time out was incredible. After a friend told me how she used to see Herons and Egrets all the time nesting in trees when she was a little girl and how she had seen the trees and nesting birds disappear as she grew older I became determined to one day see nesting Herons and Egrets. I began looking for big nests in trees and never saw one 'til one day two years ago while visiting Florida for the first time. On a trip to Homosassa Springs State Park I found nesting Herons. What a day! My objective was realized and my painting had just been born in my mind.
