What an incredible project! I was asked to create a painting of a dolphin; it was to be small in size and everything else was for me to decide. I researched tropical locations, mountains, and dolphins through books at the library. I chose the Indianapolis Zoo to further my studies on dolphins and shoot photographs. The trip to the zoo was phenomenal and I got the one shot of a dolphin that I needed for my painting, a dolphin jumping to the left. The mountains were based on Hawaii and Greece.

Dolphins are beautiful mammals that are very strong, intelligent, and incredible leapers. Their colors of turquoise, gray, black, white, and blue were wonderful to paint. This painting is dedicated to all who have chosen and will choose to take their own leaps of faith.

One of my favorite colors is blue. Blue is a very joyful color and I was so happy while working on this painting. This is my happiest painting and I am so grateful to my friend for asking me to paint a dolphin. This painting is my gift to you!
