"Diving"

Hiking at the Dunes is wonderful because I see something new each time. Indiana Dunes State Park is very large and has many pathways and trails. These trails will lead you to unique places. One such place is the marsh that I decided to capture in "Diving." It has a walkway across it and in the middle is a section of benches to sit and observe.

On a particular day in 1994 as I was walking across the walkway, I scanned the area and noticed two adult Mallard ducks swimming in the shallow waters. I watched them for approximately 30 minutes and shot a few photographs. Since I'd never seen a painting of ducks in the diving position, the painting had just been inspired.
