One of my most beloved locations for bird watching, photographing, hiking, thinking, and sketching is the Indiana Dunes. In the park nestled in the woods and surrounded by tall sand dunes is the Nature Center. The Nature Center has a beautiful glass-enclosed bird watching area for people to observe not only birds but all forms of wildlife as well. There are many feeders for birds, squirrels, hummingbirds, etc. Along the southeastern portion of the feeding area is a small fence of branches intertwined and piled one atop the other. It is in this fence of branches that the chipmunks love to scurry and also where I saw a chipmunk on one of the branches and was inspired to create the drawing.

Small mammals such as chipmunks need to have camouflage in order to survive and I tried to capture the ability of the chipmunk to blend in with the surroundings.

The title is a reflection of where this particular chipmunk lived.
